A Tryst with Glass- Prospectus

 

The Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh invites all Pittsburgh guilds to join us in a "Tryst with Glass." Whether you are a glass artist, wish to partner with a glass artist, or have never worked with glass, the artist is encouraged to create a marriage of materials utilizing glass in its many forms. Collaborations between artists are welcome. At least one artist in the collaboration should be a Pittsburgh guild member.

 

Specifics;

The show is open to all Pittsburgh area guild members. Artists from all disciplines are invited to participate. Collaborations are encouraged provided one participant is a guild member.

 

Where;

The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, 6300 Fifth Ave. Pittsburgh , PA 15232

 

When;

November 16, 2007 - January 20, 2008. Opening reception will be November 16th from 5:30 - 8 pm.

 

Juror; 

Dr. Vicky A. Clark is an independent curator, writer and teacher whose practice places the art of our times in a broad cultural context. As a contemporary curator at the Carnegie Museum of Art and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, she has organized over 50 one-person and group exhibitions. She also writes for national magazines and catalogues.

 

Qualifications;

Work must have been created within the last two years and not previously exhibited within a 150-mile radius of Pittsburgh . Each artist may submit up to three pieces. Each piece must be ready to hang or exhibit.

 

screening

August 12, 2007 at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.  Drop off between 12:30 and 1:30 pm.

• Pick up at 4:00 pm and no later than 4:30 pm.  Complete and attach three labels for each piece entered.

 

Notification;

Include a self addressed sealed envelope at time of drop off to be notified by mail. Artists will be notified no later than August 20, 2007.

 

Fee;

$20 paid at time of screening drop off. Check should be made payable to the Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh.

 

Sales;

Sales are encouraged and will be handled by the PCA Shop. They will retain a 45% commission.

Best of show, Best Collaboration, Most Unique Use of Glass

Screening drop off at 12:30 pm. Pick up at 4pm.

Wednesday, November 7

Drop of selected work. 10 am to 1pm.

Friday, November 16

 

Opening reception.

Sunday, January 20, 2008- 5:30 - 8pm,

 

Show closes.

Monday & Tuesday, January 21 & 22

10am to 1pm. Pick up unsold work.

 

Reasonable measures will be taken to care for the artwork. The Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts will not be responsible for lost or damaged work.
